Outdoor Education
For over 30 years, Besant Hill School of Happy Valley has inspired, challenged, and taught students through its Outdoor Education Program (OEP). We believe the lessons learned in nature build character, leadership skills and team management tactics for students to draw upon for their future lives. Our program is designed to motivate students to continue to explore their outdoor passions as graduates of Besant Hill School.

The mission of the Besant Hill Outdoor Education Program is to provide students with the opportunity to develop intellectual, social, and personal skills through challenge and adventure in a safe and supportive environment. It is from these experiences that students become positive, contributing members of their communities by understanding the connection between themselves and the world at large.

Weekend Trips
Outdoor education opportunities take place in various settings across California and are scheduled on weekends throughout the year. The frequency and intensity of these excursions are geared toward each student with specific itineraries crafted to help achieve the goals of the participating individuals. Students develop leadership skills, logistical planning, group management, and risk assessment through rock climbing, backpacking, and whitewater rafting.
